we want to thank you for joining us as

we kick off a night where the music

Community is coming together with a

renewed sense of purpose as you all know

the Grammys highlight the power of music

right and right now so many artists in

this community are hurting after the

devastating wildfires here in Los

Angeles appended the lives of thousands

of people so tonight the community is

coming together at this time of urgent

need the awards will highlight the

efforts of the incredible First

Responders on the front lines risking

their lives and fighting to keep us safe

and it's also a night that's all about

the action as the music haes Community

raises funds for the Wildfire relief

efforts you've certainly seen some of

the incredible communities across Los

Angeles coming together to help each

other and the music Community here is no

exception already get this through the

music Care's Fire Relief initiative $5

million in emergency aid has been raised

to support those in the music industry

whose lives have been impacted by this

natural disaster that's right and we

want to invite you to join us to

contribute to the incredible fundraising

efforts that are happening grammy.com

fire that's where you can go if you want

to make an impact all the donations

collected through the music ha's Fire

Relief efforts are being distributed

through Community Partnerships that are

focused on getting Aid to the displaced

residents and the First Responders who

need it and if you have any questions

from IBM built for us and it can answer

all kinds of questions about

contributing to the fund how to apply

just for taking the time out and

recognizing the huge losses this

community has had and how we as artists

can come together and use our music and

use our voices to say hey we need to

come together and pull together and help

our community and our people that need

our help in this situation now you're

not just walking on this red carpet as a

nominee anymore you're walking on this

carpet as a winner how good does that

feel honestly I was shaking before they

called me because I was like nervous I

was like what am I going to do if I go

up there what am I going to say and when

they called my name I was like this has

to be a mistake no I feel like I need to

pinch you right now my friend this is

real and I just from I'm just a boy from

East St Louis Illinois that had a dream

bigger than himself that could only come

by a miracle and I am so grateful just

to be here so where is your Grammy going

to go so um really I want to put my

grammy in my living room in my small

apartment in in St Louis

not to boast about myself but I think it

speaks of just Miracle after Miracle the

God that I serve but also I have I'm

raising a a little black girl and I have

a beautiful wife and I had a a beautiful

baby boy that's coming on the way in

July and I want them to see that

whatever they put their mind to it is

possible their daddy did it their

husband did it her husband did it and I

want her to know and I want my kids and

my family and my nieces and nephew to

know that the sky is the limit dream

bigger what a beautiful season of life

for you right now

congratulations how will you celebrate

tonight who are you with yeah so I am

celebrating with kingley um a local

label in St Louis but also with my curb

word um my curb word family I just

signed my first major record deal with

them as an artist and a writer and so

it's been a full week of just really big

how are you feeling being back of course

a four time Grammy nominee you have a

Grammy under your belt I mean this is

music's biggest night you know it's

actually feels like the first time again

this is my first time coming to the

Grammys just as Scott hoing and um it's

for a song I wrote about my husband as

an an iversary gift it's all very

personal and it's been a beautiful

experience and um I'm just so grateful

to be here it's so surreal is your

husband able to spend tonight with you

yes he's there hi Husband blowing kisses

on camera look at how proud he is D

that's what we call an Instagram husband

you guys can't see it on camera right

now but he's waiting in the wings here

and he's holding his phone getting all

of this action and blowing kisses got

our camera rolling he's got his camera

rolling yeah right now Scott you're part

tonight could you tell us a little bit

more about what's going to happen oh my

gosh it was it was incredible Yolanda

Adams Deborah Cox Wayne Brady Taj Mahal

it was just like so incredibly surreal

and oh Angeli kidjo like it was like

icons that I love singers vocalists and

I was just honored to be in such company

I was like warming up was like like yeah

still sounded good to me thank you thank

you you know tonight of course is a

night of celebrating our peers andele

cting the community of music but also

celebrating the community of Los Angeles

in a time of great need why was it so

important that you know they say the

show must go on but why was it so

important that the Grammys did continue

on right now I think it was so important

because people love music music is an

escape music is healing um and it's an

opportunity to raise money they raised

instantly $4.5 million for music cares

and this is keeping people's careers

going and it's it's causing so much

relief and so

I'm just so happy that they're doing it

and they're doing it right yeah we are

raising money everybody remember that uh

community and thank you for all that you

do and using your platform to help the

mom and yeah last year it was super high

stress this year I feel more calm and

seasoned so happy to feel that way too

what are you most looking forward to

tonight honestly tonight I'm I'm excited

to get inspiration to of course see

Beyonce ARA Carpenter Chapel so many

amazing talented hardworking long career

women that um inspire me you know to

remind myself that it's always when it's

my time it's my time and to give myself

time to do whatever I want you have been

I just think about the last time I saw

you here at the Grammys and all that

you've accomplished since whether it's

music or acting what what else do you

have on the bucket list that you want to

do I'm so excited my bucket list is

coming into fruition on April 25th I'm

dropping my debut album girl my first

one literally just got CHS just now I'm

just super excited it's been a really

long process cuz I'm really strict with

myself so I hope that it's worth it I

hope that everybody's happy and um I

hope to be back here giving you this one

next year we'll be right here waiting

for inspiration on the vision board edit

it right now and then I'll come back

make it real you know you're going to

walk off this carpet and see that

picture on your phone I'm saying that's

fine come on Coco Jones SCE where you at

we know that this debut album has been a

labor of love for you how would you

describe what fans are in store for you

know what um I think my fans are in

store for of course what they love from

me those those ballads those really

vocally challenging moments but I'm

really trying to push The Narrative of

R&B I love to perform I love high energy

I love Coro and um I want a world where

they can both coexist and I feel like

R&B to me can be so flexible and that's

what I'm trying to Showcase and and

teach my audience so I heard a little

bit of Coro we're going to get C from

you oh girl my next music video I'm

literally doing

acrobatics in the sky in the air in I'm

in the air with it I'm in the air with

it but that's what I love I love to

challenge myself and then when you go on

tour I mean I just I I'm already seeing

it my manager definitely said you know

this is coming on tour right and I I

didn't think about that at the time at

the time I was like music video one and

done but here we are so you know what

look out for the tour that will be in

May and I'll be flipping around it's

giving pink it's giving Carrie Underwood

with all the acrobats I love it I'm

excited I'm excited for it and I'm

excited to be here too well Coco we

cannot wait for everything in store

we're so happy to have you back on here

you look phenomenal on this carpet I

missed the gold initiative but next year

have the gold accents and I just forgot

celebrate each other celebrate and it's

the time to do the right thing and let

type of expression is good for you I

feel like the storytelling the lyrics

right now it's just time for us to

really put substance in our music you

know what I'm saying and as for

listeners it's time for us not to put

artists against each other because we're

all just trying to heal each other you

know what I'm saying so as a listener

and as fans of the art I just say just

take it is taking and let it move you

and inspire you to get through your

personal J Journey you know what I'm

saying we all getting through things so

we might as well get through it with the

music does it feel more like a community

here today more than ever before like a

family absolutely it is a family it is a

family everybody's coming together you

know we just got all sides of the music

business and um everybody's coming

together it's a community and that's

about Community to get the unity we got

you you know this is my 25th year

anniversary so it's just kind of like

full circle you kind of look back and

you think of how it was when I was

starting out you know uh being able to

do what I love you know which is Latin

music and to be in the biggest stage the

Grammys to be recognized by by the

academy it it it means a lot well we

can't wait to see what the next 255 have

in store for us thank you so so much

twins how does it feel to be back I mean

this is music's biggest night and it's

it's it's such a wonderful night to

celebrate all the hard work then also

celebrate the community together

honestly it feels a bit bittersweet

because of the craziness in the world um

the craziness earlier this month you you

know Los Angeles is the place that I

found my dream and it just sucks to see

all the devastation I really don't feel

like I should be celebrating but I also

know that as

musicians we are the ones that help

people escape and so tonight is just a

reminder for us to keep going because

the world needs music you know we heard

a really unique term earlier saying

musicians are second responders you have

First Responders on the Fire but then SE

responders are the artists that really

give hope and inspiration to people and

you did that earlier today when you

performed at the premiere yes that was

amazing I'm just I'm still like when

they called my name after I was off on

the side just running my mouth like I

always do they call my name and I was

like I couldn't shut my mouth I'm like

girl had to walk across stage like this

it was just such an amazing moment it's

like I just had fun cuz once you get

here you don't have to prove your

yourself it's already proven you're the

best of the best um and I'm just so

grateful just for every

opportunity yeah so now I get to have

fun yeah the cuz I got my trophy off

exactly period where other than next to

the other one where is the trophy going

you know I think I need to build like a

little shelf in my house cuz I have a

now two gramys a soul training award an

ihart music award we got a shelf already

you got a yeah yeah I got I got to build

like a little space in my house for all

my Awards just to remind me of like you

can do it you know cuz sometimes I like

I get so busy with the next thing and I

don't stop to celebrate so I definitely

will be celebrating more starting

tonight's exactly I'm going to have a

good time you going to see me in there

dancing I got a lot of friends nominated

so super excited it is a good night and

especially one for you already taking

home a win congratulations always good

maybe their second wins and to celebrate

them right where they are right now we

know it was uh uh a balance of here and

there but I'm glad that they still had

it but also to respect what has happened

in here in LA with those who've lost

much in their lives and for us to um be

here to support them and Inspire them to

come get back on their feet Ricky thank

platform to give back to the community

and it's always so good to see you here

be back feels wonderful feels great to

have the music Community together again

to celebrate all the wonderful music

that's come out and as I said in my

remarks at the beginning I feel like you

know music the people that make music

are like Angels on the Earth right to

keep us all sane and I just told

everybody they need to uh grow their

wings a little bigger and flap a little

bit harder with all of the things from

the fires and just all the things that

are happening music is a thing that's

going to raise awareness raise Spirits

raise money and that's what we're all

here to do tonight you know it's no uh

exaggeration to say you are a legend in

the music industry so many people look

up to you what words do you have for

people who need just a little bit more

inspiration to get through this time

well I'm fortunate cuz I get to do what

I love to do and so they say you if you

get to do what you love that you never

work a day in your life but my advice to

people is always to be prepared and it

sounds very cliche but the whole idea of

preparing is people when they say I'm

waiting for something to happen I'm

waiting for my break I'm waiting to what

substitute the word waiting with the

word preparing I'm preparing for my

break I'm preparing for somebody to

discover me and then when that moment

comes you seize it and you're there to

do it and you say I'm ready you say I'm

ready and I'm prepared changes to I'm

ready that's right you're ready to go

yeah how are you going to celebrate

tonight with all your friends well I

have my family with me which is always

wonderful we kind of do it as a Grammy

tradition and we're just going to enjoy

the show it's uh I've seen I've been at

the rehearsal so I've seen what the show

is I think it's going to be the most

amazing show ever you want to give us

one little secret about the show what a

cheese well I will say I don't know what

I'm supposed to say but I will say that

I

believe that in the first year it'll be

the first year that you will see every

single Best New Artist on the show and I

think it's incredible because that

category to me is probably the most

incredible on the show cuz it shows not

not only the greatness of Music past but

the greatness of Music in the future and

so that's what I'm looking forward to

we've seen some really fun Dynamic Duos

walking the carpet together a couple

people saying I'm here with my best

friend and here support them so you're

just echoing a lot of the sentiment that

so many people have tonight yeah wait

sorry we're all just having fun as

friends today too and supporting each as

friends 100% yeah is there anybody that

time yeah I have like I've met Lady Gaga

like once maybe a long time ago um and I

just wanted to meet her again so do we

seen her not yet but you could stick

she's like 5 months pregnant right now

so we're doing June so I kind of went

with this like Pearl look which is the

you know just excited to have a little

man you know what I mean so that's

that's that's the big win for me no

matter what you know what a beautiful

season of life for you how would you sum

it up in just a few words I'm so blessed

I truly am just so blessed and grateful

and honored I my my parents will be here

tonight too so I just I life is just

couldn't be sweeter you know well until

tomorrow it'll be sweeter too you know

every day is better ain't it it's good

day to be us what a good perspective to

have you're just so filled with hope and

joy and I think that's what a lot of

people are looking for right now in

times like these what words do you have

for people that could use a little bit

more right now you know I think I think

what I what I love to see about this is

that um in my four years of living here

in La um this community come together

when there's tragedy that affects all of

us and some more than others uh I it's

just so beautiful to see that the

inherent goodness of people comes out

and we all come together and unify and I

hate that it takes a tragedy sometimes

but I'm I'm so grateful to be a part of

this community and and see people come

together and devote their time and their

supplies and their money and whatever

they have you know and I'm just so

grateful and my prayers are just prayers

are working baby you know what I mean

they always will so I I'm I'm so

grateful to be here it's going to be

such a beautiful night to help support

our community it also is going to be a

beautiful night celebrating the

achievements that people like yourself

have garnered over this past year I want

to bring it back to the best new artist

recognition because that is I mean that

is tremendous in itself but you also in

really good company especially with one

of your friends Benson Boon now you two

have developed quite the Bromance okay

on a day like today what does your text

messages look like with benon I'm just

hoping I was trying to ask him if you

need an oil boy for the day you know

what I mean that's usually I try to

that's my try to go-to job for him so

I'm I'm hoping I get to hope I'm get to

it feel to be back in the action it's

just gorgeous it's such a treat I'm so

fun to be here with like one of my best

musical friends of all time it's so

special likewise I feel the same this is

fun cuz I've never been to the Grammys

where I get to sort of like be with a

friend the whole time CU we're nominated

like for the song together so it's very

exciting I'm happy support you to helps

have just have a mate you know yeah you

also have the support of your beautiful

mother who I know has supported you

every step of the way in your journey

she's of course on your album too I mean

hi Mom hi you both are both wearing

sequins tonight sparkly today to have

this support system for you I mean what

does this mean to you and you get to

share this moment with your friends and

your family this is the gramys it is the

Grammys you are correct um yeah no it's

it's very very very important on every

day but I think on a day like today when

there's so much energy and so much

pressure and things just yeah friends

and family both go a long way and and um

you know all about that as well like

having having having your other heart

fear as well it's just like you need

those grounding rocks you know on days

like today takes the nerves off maybe a

little bit yeah yeah well you get to be

here with a buddy is there anybody that

you're really excited to see on the

carpet or performing

tonight I mean Rey for me is like just

one of the best she's one of the

greatest she's so positive and she's so

courageous and such a lovely character

and um so I'm I'm hoping to have a

glimpse of her for sure T I'm excited to

see Teddy swims oh Teddy I've been

loving him Ray as well she's amazing um

I mean like Legend baby face is like

right here so that's cool we're talking

about you of course we

are yeah it's awesome there's so many

amazing people here um we're just

starting too so I'm I'm getting giddy

already now on a night like tonight I

imagine obviously you're celebrating and

you are you know enjoying the night but

is there also a worker be in you that's

like who can I go talk to who can I go

network with who how can I make

something happen here or are you just

letting it all just be organic tonight

you can't engineer the Grammys and and

being social here I I can think of

moments in the last few years where I

have bumped into a hero of mine and then

we've ended up working together off the

back of it but um you just have to kind

of ride the wave and see we end up you

know I mean didn't that literally happen

with us we met at the grammy but we

weren't like we weren't obviously trying

to network but we happened to meet here

yeah and then we're like oh let's do a

song and here we are now if that's not a

full circle moment I don't know what is

I'm feeling really really good today we

just won uh for Chris Brown's R&B album

of the year so it feels really really

good when you heard the win and you knew

it was you what was going through your

mind the first thing I did was call my

dad and my mom and um and my mom was

crying on the phone I was in the car

trying to get to the red carpet and it

was just a special moment um it's a

blessing and this is number five for you

it's number five does it get old does it

still feel new every time it feels new

every time it doesn't it doesn't get old

it's like it's like um winning another

championship ring if you're a basketball

player it's just just you know yeah they

each represent a moment in your career

and they each represent a collaboration

with your friends they they just they

each represent something special so what

does this one represent number five what

does this one represent for you well for

me I would say for my dad my dad when I

sent him the song he told me he said

Eric I think this is going to be one of

your biggest records and I was like n

dad you just saying that and it ended up

turning out to be one so that for me it

represents my relationship with my dad

and and just for me it's more

sentimental than anything that's

beautiful you know so does this trophy

go to your dad

absolutely straight to his house all

right he going to put it on the mantle

right in the front let you going put it

but so maybe you hold on to this one for

safekeeping until he tells you n I'm

going to send it right to him good that

great like there's there's no question

you get to see amazing celebrities but

the Oscars have a performance these are

like the best musicians in the world who

you pay literally I paid thousands of

dollars to see perform and they are all

performing back toback this is literally

the best show ever going the best

concert to happen in America every

single year she's also not kidding she

spent close to six figures on seeing

Taylor Swift might have been up there

yeah it might have been close to that so

how excited are you to see Taylor here

tonight I mean I just can't wait to see

what she's wearing I can't wait to see

her talk and maybe reveal something that

you know we're used to her announcing

something um yeah I'm I'm so excited

it's been a while you know like I went

to the last eras tour so I haven't seen

well I guess we've seen her at like

Chiefs games but it's always just fun to

for to see an appearance of hers and

like I will not be bothering her I will

not be I'm going to play it very cool

when you say doing more I think of what

the recording Academy Music cars are

doing for our community we are doing as

much as we can why was it important for

the show to go on tonight I think for

many reasons we have to start

rebuilding I think we have to bring

people back to Los Angeles there are so

many people who need the work I think

the movie studios the tele Television

Studios music we all have to work here

and we have to start now and we we're

resilient and so I do think it's very

important I understand why the labels

aren't doing the parties but I think for

the

Grammys and we have to celebrate these

amazing

artists and celebrate raising a lot of

funds for our community as well music

car's Fire Relief Fund I hear I hear

clapping here on the red car but we're

going to we're going to say that that's

for that everyone open your pockets and

donate money for the music hair Fire

Relief Fund oh you know why it is it's

because our First Responders actually

are walking in right now we're seeing

them trickle in what a beautiful moment

here in Los Angeles at the Grammys we

have buttons and pin celebrating our

First Responders here on the carpet wow

but um my dad's like standing like right

over there so he just wants to meet all

the celebs that's his thing we're from

Athens Alabama this is still a big deal

to my town so yeah we're here

representing who does he want to

meet everybody anybody and everybody

he'll probably take a photo with y'all

to be honestly hey we we got dressed for

the occasion and y'all look great and so

Applause and to have that it's um it's

what you guys have held us up on these

long days and we're so grateful and

appreciative and music heals the world

and that's why we're so honored to be

here what we have seen in the last few

weeks here in Los Angeles is unlike

anything we have ever seen before Taylor

and I joke that we're from Detroit where

like our city is very strong and then I

we saw the response here in Los Angeles

here absolutely blown away and they say

look for the helpers right in these

situations what has it been like for you

to see the community come together and

the ways that they have to show the

support oh it's just absolutely amazing

everybody to come coming together for

people who lost loved ones friends

neighbors uh but also people who lost

their home or their business who are

displaced La is strong they've come

together I'm not surprised but it's just

been so heartwarming to see she yeah and

I feel like the community surrounding

all of the people that have lost

something and us to do our jobs this

part of the world is just gorgeous and

it's a playground of of all over and to

have people support that and want to

help rebuild and get people back to

what's right I mean we're lucky to do

the jobs that we get to do well we are

lucky to have both of you and your teams

and from the bottom of our hearts thank

you thank you so much for all that you

have done and continue to do we know

that it's a long road ahead and we are

endlessly grateful and we hope to raise

a lot of money tonight to give back to

our music cares Fire Relief it's amazing

they're going to help the people who

were uh most struck by this terrible

to celebrate our community but just when

it comes to being around your peers and

celebrating the music I mean

what what comes to mind and what's on

your heart oh just it's really nice the

thing about the Grammys is that you it's

voted on by everybody who's kind of

doing the same thing as you are whether

they're producers or songwriters or you

know uh Engineers so uh to be recognized

by your peers who are in you know

fighting the good fight this in the same

way it's very sweet and then you get to

run into your friends which is a

pleasure and and some people who you

don't know yet but hope to so and then

hope to collaborate with down the line

it's all about building Community DOI

record most nominated female rapper this

year too it's the most nominated she's

creating Community fostering Community

we want to honor the uh relief efforts

that we're putting towards all the LA

fires how important is it to you that we

pay attention to that tonight as well

well it's it's huge I mean I I live in

LA now and um I mean I can count on two

hands the number of people who I know

personally who lost everything you know

um and it's it's all walks of life you

know and um I think it's nice that it

seems like over the course of history

musicians and artists are the ones who

kind of rally around first thing to go

like hey there's some people in need we

should we should help out but it's uh

yeah the devastation is kind of

unfathomable and uh it's going to take a

long time to rebuild but you know that's

why we're resilient that's why we're

here tonight to to help on the

rebuilding journey of course the music

hair's Fire Relief Fund continue to

donate and help our community we we all

appreciate it from people who live here

in Los Angeles uh we appreciate the

support we appreciate you us your

platform to help the community as well

you feeling being back here it's like

your home turf yeah you know I live here

in Los Angeles I've been a member of the

recording Academy for a long time I was

a trustee uh not too long ago so this

feels like home yeah it's also date

night of course with Chrissy and also I

know you were of course nominated for

best children's music album which I know

mean meant a lot to you because you

shared that experience with their family

what did the kiddos say to you and

Chrissy as you were leaving tonight oh

they wished me luck and they were

excited for me um I'm nominated for

children's album and uh nominated for

arranging for two different songs one I

did did with Jacob CER and Tory Kelly

and then one is from my children's album

song called always come back which is a

special song for my kids cuz uh I wrote

it for them you know I wrote it about uh

how we have to leave sometimes but we

always come back so uh um I'm hoping at

least one of those wins tonight and uh

we'll see okay so if the kiddos are

watching cuz we are live right now what

do you want to say to them well I love

you and uh since it's on the west coast

you don't even have to go to bed you can

watch the whole show

yeah it's a late night for you

kiddos now of course the Grammys did

shift the focus a little bit this year

to focus more on relief efforts for the

fires that did happen music is such a

powerful force and we know that's with

the music that you create what do you

have to say to people that might need

just a little bit more encouragement to

get through Times Like These well uh we

live here in Los Angeles and so many of

our neighbors U went through a lot of

trauma we evacuated but we did uh lose

anything in the fire but we know very

close friends who did I'll be playing

with some musicians tonight who lost

their homes in the fires and so we know

it affected um thousands of families and

it was traumatizing for the whole

community and uh one of the beautiful

things about the Grammys and the

recording Academy is that we're always

giving back and especially for our

community of musicians a lot of

musicians aren't rich and famous they

just make music for a living every day

and they go out there and put their love

and their heart into all the work that

they do and music cares uh which is part

of the recording academy uh is an

organization that helps take care of

folks when they need us most so we

helped during covid and now we're

helping during the fires because so many

of our community members lost something

uh so many of our fellow musicians lost

something during this time and so we're

here for our fellow musicians our fellow

recording artists and we're going to do

what we can tonight to help raise money

and raise awareness and support them and

show our love for them John thank you

for all that you do using your platform

to give back to the community and

others especially helping with the

animals too how special is it to be here

tonight knowing that we've shifted the

purpose here it's incredible just how

everyone has come together to support

each other it's been such a

heartbreaking and devastating time but

the Silver Lining is seeing just how

much people really love each other in

this town and how resilient we are and

how it's so important that we're going

to be celebrating music and all the

artists in this amazing town now just as

just as much as this night is about

giving back and Community it's also

about celebration and finding Joy what

it has been such a joy for us fans to

watch you and see your light continue to

unbelievably overwhelmingly grateful um

and it's it's been really wonderful to

see it all happen and you know when

you're like within a dream that's what

it feels like like I'm just I'm sort of

watching the dream happen

do it feel to be back on the carpet

tonight it feels kind of surreal but

also honestly like a family reunion a

little bit you know I get the chance to

see friends that I haven't seen

throughout the year um so I'm really

excited to you know get to see people

that I haven't seen all year I'll never

forget being backstage with you a couple

years ago after you took home your first

win it was Best New Artist and

I mean just I was so happy for you in

that moment but when you think back to

reliving that moment what comes to mind

I was crying like a baby I wasn't going

to say that but yes you were I was

crying like a b and it was like I feel

like that only happens in special

moments like when you just feel this

outpouring of emotion especially with

all that you've poured into what you

love to kind of receive it back in that

way was really special um and so I just

something took over me and I was like I

just need to let it all out and uh so

that's what you saw um you've seen the

most vulnerable parts of me so uh we

love the vulnerability um but yeah I'm

I'm so grateful and so honored that I

get the chance to keep coming back and

supporting more you know best I'm

excited to see women's Best New Artist

tonight I was going to say what are your

thoughts for the best new artist and

what words would you give them just

about if whoever takes it home what to

expect kind of after this and what doors

could possibly open I'm rooting for

everybody I have favorites in mine but

I'm record I'm rooting for everybody but

I will say don't be afraid to rest it's

a big moment you should take the rest

that you're you you've earned getting to

that moment and figure out what your

next steps are going to be but do not be

don't try to just go with the current of

it and you know let it kind of you know

just as quickly as it happens it's gone

so I cherish that moment cherish what

you've worked for and what you've earned

and rest and then from that place of

rest that's when you go and figure out

what's next

like extraordinary there's so many

talented people um so many songs that I

think we're going to be singing for the

next 50 you know 50 Grammys from now

honestly including yours yeah absolutely

now wait a second we can't let this pass

over you said JLA got up out of her seat

and you shouted her out did she dance a

little bit more for you what happened

after that my gosh man I don't know man

but I didn't get the chance to say hi to

her but she's just is every bit stunning

in person as you know she is in the

magazine so shout out JLo man can we

just talk about really quick I mean this

Best New Artist nomination of course

having a handful of nominations already

but this one in particular the magnitude

of this one for you what does it mean uh

you know it means a lot to my younger

self who's you know put 10 10 plus years

and counting into you know my artist

career and um just to be here being

recognized for something like this just

shows just the power of resilience you

know I I I don't I don't see myself as

some anyone special than any other kid

out there who has a dream and and an

idea and wanting to explore that so I

think that's what I want my messaging to

be that it's like Mom look at that guy

he did it I'm going to go try to do it

too you know and you're doing it and

maybe he's going to do it on the cowboy

dreaming about this moment since I was a

kid so it's really it's incredible to be

here it's Indescribable yeah is it

everything you dreamed of yeah actually

it is yeah a what when you when you

think about the Grammy's red carpet and

you've dreamed about it like what did

you imagine I mean I just imagined a

moment where like um I mean I always

imagined the kind of fit I was wearing

as well but I always imagined just like

being amongst the people that I

literally grew up listening to grew up

practicing their kind of music and their

style and everything and being able to

be amongst them and to um to just be

able to share that experience with them

so yeah just random cool things like we

were just walking and John Legend said

what's up giddy I was like hey and I was

like oh let me introduce you to Kevin

and he's like oh hey like just random

stuff like that you know just really

cool but that's what it's about it's

about the community that everyone is

fostering here and reconnecting with or

meeting for the first time do you have

anybody else on your bucket list that

you're looking forward to meeting or

hanging out with tonight ah man last

year actually I saw joanny Mitchell and

she's a I named my daughter after her so

that was cool I mean you know just like

uh yeah any of the Legends I'm trying to

think who else is going to be here

tonight uh Beyonce Taylor I haven't met

though yeah they're great Frankie

Valley's here okay yes yes Frankie Val

yes yeah baby faces I mean there's so

many it's music's bigest night what

about you I mean like along with all

those people I mean I've always wanted

to also meet farell Williams as well and

I feel like every everyone that I've

like always wanted to meet I feel like

I'm been having the opportunity to meet

them today as well dreams are really

coming true for you today for real for

real that's what it's about it is that

is what this is about and and it's so

good to see both of you and and have fun

tonight seriously it's it's always good

to see you have the best time of

night that's the thing about music's

biggest night is you'll never know who

you will see is like that Will Smith

arriving Will Smith coming in on the car

hanging out having a good time with that

seen so many people arrived here who has

been a highlight for you so far I could

go on a long list Cynthia Riva was a

huge one for me I'm sorry I was a wicked

St I'll own it so Cynthia Reva was very

special for me uh and also baby face

that's the curator of a sound of R&B for

so many of the songs that I grew up to

and so many other people listen to I

think it's cool seeing people who Define

genre walking down the carpet seeing the

impact that they

have well we are going to see many more

artists continue to hit the carpet right

here ahead of the 67th Grammy

Awards we are with they don't even need

an introduction but we'll give them one

anyway the one and only Green Day four

time Grammy winners have a few Grammy n

nominations tonight how are you feeling

uh feel wonderful we've um you know it's

been a great year so far I mean or last

year was a great year for us and it was

a huge tour big anniversaries and savior

our album and this is just capped it off

in a beautiful way and in a special way

too for the community because you all

have been performing to help raise money

for our community this past weekend you

took the time to perform at a concert to

raise money for people in need tonight

obviously the Grammys have shifted we

have a renewed sense of purpose tonight

to raise even more money why is this so

important wow I mean

you know Los Angeles

is part of the cultural Mecca of the

world in a lot of ways and you know

we're one we're from We're California so

we're from the Bay Area and it's like uh

there's always been a rivalry but it's

also been love you know so it's uh we

just wanted to do any anything in our

part to just lift the spirits of

Altadena and the Palisades so music is

so healing and what you do can inspire

people to make a change and if that's

what music can do these days then it's

really been great to see you all get out

there and impa no I mean music is like

it's a kind of art that it's not you

can't touch it you can't see it you feel

it it's it goes in your heart and it

goes in your soul so it's uh I think it

it really can sort of uh be a soundtrack

for healing for a lot of people with

that note thank you so much for all that

you are doing for the community

especially this weekend and

congratulations and thank you for your

very excited a little nervous a little

this goes you still get nervous I do

still get nervous I have played far over

a thousand shows and I still get nervous

every time I step on stage I honestly

don't know if I will ever not be nervous

and maybe something about that is good

maybe it's part of excitement and it

still feels like the first time every

time even though I've been on this

carpet before how special is a night

like tonight for the community cuz we

saw you chitchatting with David geta

it's it's a night that you can come

together with your peers but we all have

a mission tonight A Renewed sense of

purpose to help our community dealing

with the wildfires so why was this night

why was it important for the show to

literally go on um I mean they do say

The Show Must Go On And I think there's

plenty reasons for it I think it's

incredible to see how the community

stepped up and and came together I mean

you just mentioned me talking to David I

wasn't sure if he was here or like we

don't see each other that often so it's

a good time to be able to catch up with

everybody but yeah I mean it's it's been

a devastating few months or few weeks

I'm not exactly sure it feels long

certainly and uh um it's also really

heartwarming to see in times like this

how everybody holds each other's hands

and and helps where you can so um you

know and it's tragic and heartwarming at

the same time it really is but you

create music that keeps people moving

keeps people dancing in High Spirits and

I think that's a lot of what we all need

right now that's very sweet thank you

for saying that and I know as an artist

oh I'm so sorry I'm so sorry I was going

to say as an artist you do not you don't

take that for granted you know the

magnitude of the platform that you have

that in these times that you can help

people heal through your music and I

never think about this and whenever

anybody tells me this it it really like

makes me emotional because I never think

of myself as somebody who helps anyone I

do this because it's my passion I've

done this since I was a baby and I sort

of do it as a like a form of therapy for

myself um and so whenever I get to hear

from other people that it help them in

any shape or form that really like it

warms my heart a lot so thank you very

much for for saying that matters and I

think something really important about

music is that it's not just you going

through it alone what's most powerful is

what's relatable to everyone that's what

you do absolutely it's all about this

entire event all of music is about

Community it's about celebrating moments

together and and being able to feel

feelings with each other um so you know

this is this is the night we get to

celebrate and and just be together all

in one place and of course celebrating

achievements to your nomination

Davis party last night and they were

performing some of the nominees were

performing for Best New Artist and I'm

just like how can anyone decide between

all these great acts so I just hope that

whoever doesn't win is not discouraged

and whoever does win just really feels

like top of the world what advice you

have for the person that does win coming

off your year of being Best New Artist

you know what I I would say don't let

the pressure of winning best new artists

take the Reign just do what you've

always done do just make the music that

you love to make with the people you

love to make it with don't let this

change anything is just an Accolade for

what you've done in the past and do it

the same way next time really quickly we

performers second responders the people

that bring soul and inspiration to those

around them so what you're doing is

exactly that how important is it that

the Grammys went on the show went on

tonight oh yeah you know I think in this

particular moment we needed it this was

our Lifeline music is soothing music is

edifying music is soul stirring you know

we need it all and um and I'm I'm

thrilled honored to have been on the

stage again with my brother Wayne you

know we're here um super super proud of

what we've um done even in the whz and

to bring some joy and and laughter

tonight as well was really important

Art's necessary yeah so the fact that

the show goes on and the important

distinction I think isn't The Show Goes

On so everybody can pat their back and

we put on great outfits and weren't you

wonderful The Show Goes On so so that we

can supply some Joy Supply some hope

music all of these things that are just

so we were so happy to win with Sheila

queen and our Cuban Queen so it was very

special to share with Mimi suar who won

her first Grammy for her album it was

awesome so tonight it all all the girls

get to just celebrate absolutely we're

all celebrating but you know what the

best thing was the camaraderie the fun

we had doing the video and recording and

it was a very special

project now tonight of course come rerie

and community is what we're focused on

here with music cares for the Fire

Relief how important is it to you that

we're here and United it's very

important uh Emilo and I already donated

to the cause because we were here when

those fires started and I I you know

when I left and I was looking for my

airplane window I was just praying for

everyone here and we have so many

friends that are here that that lost

homes and you know it it's just a really

tough thing to go through and to I want

to thank all those amazing First

Responders that are all always on the

front lines and everybody in La that's

really rallied so we got to help out in

whatever way we can how would you

describe the atmosphere here because

this is unlike any Grammy awards that we

have ever been to and it's all about

Community do you feel that when you're

walking around here absolutely the

energy after any you know difficult

moment that people go through and we've

all lived it after 911 was brutal after

every shooting especially the very first

one Coline changed so many things in the

entertainment industry

you realize how fortunate we are to be

able to make music and put joy out into

the world because we need as much joy as

we all can to balance out the things

that we're all going to go through

inevitably and to be there for each

other is all we can ever do music is

healing yes indeed music is healing it

got me through the toughest parts of my

life and knowing that your music also

helps heal others what does that mean to

you it's an honor and a privilege that I

don't take lightly every time I write a

song I think about what feeling it's

going to evoke and whoever is listening

and I always try to empower or you know

be a catharsist for somebody if they

want to cry have words for them to say

to somebody that they can't so it's

in a moment in time that we're having

especially with the wildfires you of

course have a home in Malibu what does

it mean to you to be here tonight you

know I just uh love the world and love

people so much and it's an absolute

privilege to to be a songwriter and a

singer and to be able to uh sing for

people during this time and just send as

much love as I can into the world I I

feel um so heavy in my heart for people

that lost everything uh for people that

um didn't make it through so I'm just

thinking of everyone tonight and uh

Bruno and I have something special

planned so I'm excited uh to be here and

and so like happy to be um just feeling

blessed What can you give us a little

can't I can't no I I wanted to be

about the upcoming album though Mayhem

oh my goodness I know you have poured

your blood your spat your tears into

this album as you do with any project

but how excited are you you for this one

to finally get into the fans hands I'm

so excited my record comes out on March

7th um I love my fans so much little

monsters I love you uh I I worked really

hard on this record I spent a lot of

time in the studio like honing in all

the sounds writing song after song and

just making something that I feel truly

proud of and get ready to dance yes we

need to dance we are so ready to dance

you know I no I am so thrilled to be

nominated but I uh it's yeah it's weird

I don't have an expectation of winning

but that's also you know that's the

better vibe to carry into the event I'm

so excited to be here and I'm dressed

like a Batman villain so that's all you

need to do right your category is

stacked too with your friends oh

absolutely and people are having

incredible years and there's Legends so

it's it's it's really just cool to be

included well for the record villains

usually do dress better than the heroes

so o what's that villains dress better

than the heroes so take that one yes so

maybe maybe since I'm dressed like a

villain maybe I'll win

you know I like that I'll steal

it be weird it'll be uh another thing to

get used to winning cuz I've never

really I mean I've won you know what I

mean at uh being nominated we're going

to we're going to change the tele

promper so fast in the event that you

win if I win yeah now we'll do it where

I won I can't believe I won what does

this mean to you it was so great and I

feel like you know I'm just so humbled

by all of it and now we do it where I

have to split it with someone okay who

are we splitting it with Nikki Trevor I

think it's Nikki all right here we're

going to do it where I'm like I'm so

happy for Nikki Nikki won and you know

I'm so happy also for Trevor for winning

because he you know he's been part of

the gramys and I think he was great

tonight I'm so happy for Ricky you know

what I mean it's like it's good that

he's being acknowledged and I'm and I'm

thrilled for Dave because finally he's

he's winning something I mean he hasn't

ever lost but I'm so happy that Dave

Chappelle a legend uh is here to take

every single award from every comedian

it's like the scene in Mean Girls when

they break the trophy and give it to

everyone that's what's happening right

performing at the gramys okay when you

hear those words performing at the

Grammys what's the first thing that

comes to your mind I like I can't even

process it also I was asked to do this

three days ago so um you know I was

supposed to be going home today and now

I'm like now you're here at the gramy

ticket change wow and that was I imagine

a very easy yes for you to say even

though it was 3 days ago oh my God yeah

that was I think that was the quickest

yes I've ever said in my entire life the

magnitude of this moment being here and

taking the stage on music's biggest

night I mean what does that mean to you

it's just it's crazy because last year

um I got lucky enough to be in the

audience to be watching the Grammys and

um all I could think about was like it's

my goal to like one day be on that stage

or even just to like you know be down

there uh and I never thought like it

would happen within a year

so Kelsey ballerini has a song called

this time last year and it just goes to

show that you never know what can happen

within a year's time frame so what are

we doing next year oh

gosh winning a

Grammy well we'll see that that's also

top of the bucket list there we go last

year bucket list reform Crossing them

off

yeah uh well you know tonight is all

about Community we're of course

celebrating our friends and the

achievements but we're also celebrating

our community and giving back to the

community why was it important for the

Grammys to continue tonight so that we

could all come together to raise money

for our community and help out yeah well

obviously you know raising money and

raising awareness but also like I was

just thinking about this the other day

there's so many people down here from

like stylists to makeup artists and even

just like everyone who's working the

event like that would have been out of a

job if this didn't go on and that's just

I'm not even just talking about like

this event either like I think things

like this are good for the city um

because like it can't just shut down you

know um so it's been really cool seeing

like the way everyone's come together

especially the musical Community like uh

I was watching sound check and there's

lots of tributes going on and uh fire

aade a few days ago so it's cool seeing

like what everyone's done to kind of

help out where they can it's been

beautiful to see for sure and tonight is

no exception congratulations and good

luck on your performance and wait to

watch I know we'll be we'll be cheering

you on so lovely to see

you oh we are moments away from the 67th

Grammy Awards the red carpet is slowly

starting to I don't want to say shut

down because the part's just about to

start on the inside but when it slows

down on the carpet that's when you know

we got some big people trickling in that

is true we saw Taylor make her entrance

Lady Gaga made her entrance we just had

Gaga up here a few moments ago talked

about her new album coming next excited

so excited about that I do see Shakira

is here fun fact today is Shakira's

birthday so what a way to celebrate your

birthday hopefully we will be speaking

to her in just a few moments maybe C we

sing happy

birthday we're here with Ranna and

giddens presenter at the premiere

ceremony how are you feeling tonight to

be back at the gramys it always feels

good to be here especially right now

with everything that's going on to

celebrate with everyone we have to find

our joy even in the midst of darkness

and then we have to take that joy and

make it happen make something happen you

know that's my thing something in the

form of a lot of money to music Care's

Fire Relief Fund to give back to our

community right definitely absolutely we

people who have need to give and people

who have more need to give more give

more exactly yes what has it been like

to see the community of Los Angeles come

together over the these past few weeks

it's been very difficult out here um but

what's it been like to see the community

lend their support because it's been

pretty beautiful I see the future I see

an inspiration for the whole country

we're all in hard times in Los Angeles

is an example of how we take hard times

and rise up with art and love and come

together and make something beautiful

we're a city of dreamers and nothing's

going to get us down right well I mean

they they're going to try they're going

to try but you know Community is where

the future is community we have to come

together and we have to be local and we

have to help each other out cuz

otherwise we have no chance but we have

a chance with each other and that's what

tonight is about it's all about

Community it's all about reconnecting

with the people that are part of the

space and we're just so happy to have

you here and part of it all as well so

those words but how important was it for

you to to be here tonight and and and be

with the community on a night like

tonight I think it's the most important

time ever for me personally I've been

here the last three years uh nominated

and actually winning but for me it's not

even about winning today or anything

like that it it's more about um you know

uh being thankful for the First

Responders and music cares of course and

you know we have so many friends I mean

we were also threatened by the fires

directly up in to a canyon so uh it just

felt like we needed to be here and to

help hopefully put smiles on people's

faces and and I know that our music uh

the music of Metallica does really

motivate and Inspire individuals to do

to do well and be the best that they can

be so that's all a part of this too I

have a lot of friends that are

firefighters and they get motivated by

our music help save lives and uh that's

what's important now you know there's so

much these days about how music can

inspire others to do so much more than

they think they can do so thank you for

creating music that motivates thank you

for all you do and for the platform that

you have and that you use to give back

so thank oh yeah it's all about giving

back especially now thank you so much

working really hard and for for the past

last months I'm preparing my tour so I'm

people will have a little sneak peek of

what I'm going to I'm going to be doing

um on my show on tour but it's also a

great a great way to to feel you know to

to test the waters and and feel what's

going to be for me to be on stage again

uh after almost seven years since my

last tour well we cannot wait to see you

that we get to be together and

togetherness is very very important

especially in this moment in time in our

community here why was it so important

for this day to continue to go on I mean

I know it's a weird thing award shows

are so opulent um and over the top but I

really feel like and I feel like a lot

of people feel like it's been really

good to refocus the energy on Los

Angeles and continue to bring the

attention back

to one of the hearts of California you

know I mean so many of us depend on Los

Angeles

um for our bread and butter and our work

and so many of our friend families or

our family families are out here and I

thought it was really important that the

Grammys happened it's I don't know it's

it's timely weirdly it's the core of so

much art and culture in America and so

many people we are just going to

continue to encourage them to reach out
